The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has released an overview document of requirements for Compost Sales/Marketing as required by the Fertilizers Act & Regulation.
The CFIA has compiled an excellent summary document of the regulatory requirements for compost as determined by the Fertilizers Act & Regulation. While the details are basically unchanged, the document provides you a one-stop means to review what must be adhered to when selling compost in Canada (from a federal perspective; additional requirements could be demanded by your provincial regulatory agency). The CFIA worked very hard to prepare this for release as part of the CCC national conference this year. Copies may be found by visiting the members-only section of www.compost.org (Look for “Regulations & Standards Document” and go to the last posting under the archive section.) You can also view this information on the CFIA website.
