The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) hosted its 66th Annual Conference and Municipal Expo from May 30 to June 2, 2003 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As Canada’s largest municipal event, the FCM Expo is an opportunity to meet with key municipal decision-makers, suppliers, and buyers at the trade show, receptions, seminars, and other settings.

With the theme of “Competitive Communities,” this year’s conference also offered a full program of study tours that provided a sense of Winnipeg’s many municipal initiatives and cultural diversity. Participants were keen to learn about the Green Municipal Funds available to implement exciting and innovative solutions to clean up water, soil and air. The $250-million in funds are available to help all municipalities invest in solid waste management, water and wastewater management as well as sustainable transportation, and more.

EcoLog Resources Group staff representing Solid Waste & Recycling magazine and other EcoLog publications were in attendance.
