Hybrid vehicles that combine gas and electric motor, considered as a harbinger of pure e-vehicles, have proven it’s possible to wean consumers away from gasoline-powered automobiles. In 2009, it was estimated that 1.5 per cent of all passenger cars sold were hybrids. More interestingly, worldwide sales of hybrid cars increased 33 per cent from 2008 to 2009.
