Environment Canada and the Ontario Ministry of Environment co-hosted the 6th National Workshop on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) at the Marriot Eaton Centre Hotel in downtown Toronto, April 27-29, 2010. About 150 delegates attended the workshop and came from all provinces, parts of the United States and Europe. While the majority of participants were from government and private sectors affected by EPR policy, other delegates included academics, consultants, NGOs and industry associations. The workshop was organized into eight sessions with topics that ranged from the development of EPR in Canada and the successes and challenges of EPR program implementation, to industry leadership in EPR and environmental sustainability. Panels varied from two to four speakers, and sessions often concluded with animated question and answer time periods that allowed for further discussion.
