In response to the many questions coming to the Province of Ontario’s September 10 annoucement that it will remove wine and liquor bottles from Ontario’s blue box program, a special session on the issue has been added to the October 4 contracts workshop. The session will include a presentation on the British Columbia blue box program from Allen Lynch of North Shore Recycling, where wine and liquor containers were removed several years ago.
Also, Andre Racine will speak about the impact of the decision on Unical’s plans to build a glass processing facility in the GTA. Todd Pepper will look at how the removal of LCBO containers may change the make-up of the basket of goods collected and Usman Valiante will speak from the National Brewers’s perspective.
The Co-operative Contract Design Workshop is being jointly presented by the Association of Municipal Recycling Coordinators (AMRC) and the Ontario Waste Management Association (OWMA) at the Marriott Toronto Airport, 901 Dixon Road.
The are still a few places left in the workshop. For registration information visit www.amrc.ca or www.owma.org
