Given that it’s the summer doldrums and I know some readers are away at cottages or otherwise on holiday, I thought I’d spare you all a long post. (However, if you’d like to read something longer and very interesting, read the blog entry by our reporter Dave Nesseth about TerraCycle’s program to recycle “coffee pods” and the issue he has with these unsustainable products. I was going to write about this myself but have no need to now — we share the same opinion. TerraCycle is also the subject of my long profile Cover Story in the forthcoming August/September edition of this magazine.)
In place of a long post I’ll quickly mention a couple of things. First is the fact that our IT department is hard at work on a new website design and format that we’ll be rolling out very soon. I’ve seen examples of the design and it’s very clean, modern and uncluttered. All the most important website elements will still exist, but they’ll be easier to locate. We’ll ditch a few drop down menu items that people rarely use. In addition to a sharp design, the site will migrate onto a more powerful WordPress platform that gives us a better ability to upload photos and videos and other goodies we’re sure you’ll all appreciate. Watch for it soon!
Secondly, I wish to draw your attention to our upcoming Waste 2 Fuel Conference — a one-day event being presented on Thursday, September 25 at the BMO Institute for Learning in Toronto. It will be an excellent event for anyone interested in switching their fleet over to compressed natural gas (CNG) and various waste-to-fuel topics. Please mark your calendar and register!
I’ll be in touch again after the end of summer long weekend. (Argh! End of summer!)
