One of the most significant changes to the next Sites and Spills Expo (www.sitesandspills.com) is our moving the dates from fall to winter, to February 19-20, 2014. Mark your calendars now and plan to participate!
It’s a quieter time in the remediation industry in the month of February, allowing for more time for professional development. If you have considered attending the conference but were not able to do so, we have made attending/exhibiting much more accessible.
I recently read an article about why you should attend at least two conferences a year. In a nutshell, it’s about education and networking; don’t think that a podcast or webinar replaces a personal presentation. The fact that you are there in person means you participate in the full experience; non-verbal cues (such as body language or facial expressions), as well as multi-media power point presentations and Q&A sessions that are normally cut from podcasts. These are all factors that can make a session more rewarding, and provide valuable insights.
Attending a conference at the start of the year, like February, sets the tone for the rest of the year; it allows you to plan and budget for projects you may want to implement based on the knowledge, tips and insight you gained by attending the conference.
You’ll notice in the latest issues of HazMat Management magazine and Solid Waste and Recycling magazine that our Call for Abstracts has been announced. Send in those papers on new clean technologies, solutions and case studies. Check out www.sitesandspills.com for details on submission requirements.
Again, don’t forget to mark your calendar to attend the show. February 19-20, 2014!
