Progressive Waste Buys Choice Environmental for $123 million

Toronto-based Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd. is buying Choice Environmental Services for $123.2 million, the company has announced.


Toronto-based Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd. is buying Choice Environmental Services for $123.2 million, the company has announced.

Choice Environmental is a solid waste subsidiary of Swisher Hygiene based in Charlotte, North Carolina. It brings an additional $72 million in annual revenue and serves 150,000 residential and 7,500 commercial customers in southern Florida via a network of six hauling operations, a transfer station and a material recovery facility.

“As one of the largest independent waste and recycling service providers in Florida, Choice Environmental brings residential, commercial and industrial collection operations, along with transfer and material recovery facilities, that are well-positioned in southern and central Florida,” announced Joseph Quarin, vice chairman and CEO of Progressive Waste Solutions, in a November 16, 2012 statement to media.

Choice Environmental’s operations will complement Progressives’ existing Florida facilities operating under its Waste Services Inc. subsidiary.
