The National Waste & Recycling Association has launched an innovative program called “Member Buy from Member”.
Designed to encourage Association members to consider doing business with other members, the program has four components: promotional tools so members can tell customers and vendors about participation in the program; the use of discounts or other benefits for members to buy from other members; events and programs that showcase supplier members’ products and services; and, finally, awards for members that conduct the most business.
“Our members conduct billions of dollars’ worth of business every year,” said Jonathan Sper, Waste & Recycling’s director of membership, marketing and business development, in a statement. “Most of what they purchase can be provided by other Waste & Recycling member companies. The Member Buy from Member program is a way to help members know about the products and services that other members can provide and is also an opportunity to support the association,” Sper added.
Supplier and manufacturer members will benefit, Sper added, because company names and product information will be promoted directly to the decision-makers at the member companies. Likewise, he said, purchasing members will benefit by having an easy directory of supplier member contacts and product descriptions at their disposal. There is also an opportunity for suppliers to create special promotions for members.
“We’re making it easy for members to consider doing business with each other,” Sper said. “It’s what we mean when we say that ‘membership more than pays for itself.’ ”
