Edmonton launches waste art fundraiser

Re-Beauty is a silent auction fundraiser designed to build waste awareness in Edmonton.

Re-Beauty is a silent auction fundraiser designed to build waste awareness in Edmonton.

According to organizers, the October 19, 2014 event at Grant MacEwan University will feature art made from waste materials found at the Cleanit Greenit Composting Site.

Ninety per cent of the art projects will be made from waste, leaving 10 per cent for elements like paint and binding.

The artwork will be judged, and prizes will be awarded.

Proceeds raised through ticket sales, art sales and corporate sponsorships will fund the education of students enrolled at UoPeople, a U.S.-accredited and United Nations backed Online University that provides [mostly] tuition-free secondary education for those with limited access.

Proceeds will also go towards environmental stewardship programs in co-operation with schools in developing countries.
