Sustainable waste management leader, Covanta Energy Corporation, has announced that Joey Neuhoff, VP of business development, has been appointed to the U.S. Department of Commerce Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee (RE&EEAC).

The RE&EEAC is charged with advising the Secretary of Commerceregarding the development and administration of programs and policies that expand the competitiveness of U.S. renewable energy and energy efficiency products and services, including matters related to U.S. government policies.

“I’m honored for the opportunity to help move America toward being the leading exporter of clean energy technologies as part of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee,” said Neuhoff. “At Covanta, we provide sustainable waste disposal solutions while also generating clean, renewable energy. I look forward to collaborating with the committee to create policy recommendations which foster growth opportunities in trade for U.S. renewable energy and energy efficiency industries.”

As a member of the a0dvisory committee, Neuhoff will use his development expertise to provide recommendations around technology deployment, platforms and services that provide system-level efficiency to electricity generation, transmission and distribution.

Neuhoff recently spearheaded Covanta’s development efforts for the construction of the Durham-York Energy Centre in Ontario, the first commercial greenfield energy-from-waste project in North America since 1995.
