Waste to Energy Canada Inc. forms agreement for US medical waste disposal

Synergy Medwaste and Waste to Energy Canada Inc. have formed an exclusive distribution agreement for processing regulated medical waste in the U.S.

The agreement covers the sales, marketing and project development of Regulated Medical Waste processing facilities in the U.S. using Waste to Energy Canada’s proprietary BOS Technology. Synergy has committed to purchase minimum volumes of WTEC's equipment over a 10-year period.

The agreement comes on the heels of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and its changes in legislation governing the closures of medical waste incinerators and the need for safer alternatives for thermal processing of hazardous waste and Regulated Medical Waste.

David Cardenas, Managing Partner of Synergy Medwaste explained in a December 16, 2013 statement that "The ability to offer a proven compact method to process Hospital waste will guarantee savings and long term benefits for the future of the Healthcare sector and our environment as well. In simple terms, our platform is set to develop, own and operate each facility, which puts our capital at risk and not the Hospitals.”

Although there are several systems in the market in various stages of prototype, none has equalled the proven operating history of the WTEC BOS Technology, according to Synergy.

Commenting on the agreement, Alistair Haughton, Director of Waste to Energy Canada Inc. said, "At a time of transformation in the US Regulated Medical Waste sector, WTEC is extremely pleased to announce this Exclusive Distribution Agreement with Synergy". He added, "Through Synergy's U.S. Project Development experience and WTEC's technology platform, medical facilities can benefit from this complete solution, outsourcing their end of life waste management issues."

Would be interested in how they transport the product to and from the facility. Is it in a loose or densified form, wet or dry, and is it a hazardous material that is handled by employees? We may be able to help obtain additional savings with a safe material handling system maximizing payloads and minimizing labor and handling.
