After more than three years and thousands of dollars, Woolwich politicians have abandoned their fight to keep the Elmira waste transfer station open.
Politicians voted last week not to proceed with a request for proposals to find a private company willing to take over operations.
Mayor Sandy Shantz said investigating the idea was worth the time and money.
"Absolutely," she said. "I think we owed it to the residents to follow it through to completion and not make a decision based on assumptions."
