The December 6, 2012 event billed as Dragon’s Den meets American Idol is now accepting pitches about innovative recycling technologies.

It’s Recycling Idol.

Five finalists will pitch their concepts to a well-known panel, chaired by environmental industry veteran James Sbrolla, for a chance to win an approximate prize package of $30,000 to help propel the business forward and win bragging rights as the Recycling Idol.

Any companies that feature technology used in the recycling of products in the following categories are welcome to submit their application by November 15th:

  • Plastics and Packaging
  • Tires
  • Electronics
  • Hazardous Waste

“The cleantech sector is driving economic growth for Peel Region, creating new markets for post-consumer materials and challenging entrepreneurs to develop innovative technologies to create wealth,” says Sbrolla in a statement about Recycling Idol. “The RIC Centre is the central hub that is creating the opportunities entrepreneurs need to grow their businesses and drive investment into the cleantech space.”

RIC Centre describes itself as a registered not-for-profit organization that offers support to entrepreneurs and innovators who want to take ideas to market in advanced manufacturing, life science and emerging technologies.

The event is also made possible through The Ontario Network of Excellence (ONE), a collaborative network of organizations across Ontario designed to help commercialize ideas.

Recycling Idol takes place at the Noel Ryan Auditorium in the Mississauga Central Library on December 6, 2012.
