Are you fed up with Toronto’s public garbage bins? You’re not alone.
The much-maligned garbage and recycling bins were the subject of over 13,000 service requests last year, according to documents released by the city.
The grey bins were responsible for 82 per cent of total service requests for street furniture, which includes sidewalk benches, bus shelters and public toilets. On average, there were 1.4 calls for service for each of the city’s 9,094 bins.
“We’re a growing city. There’s an increased demand on all of our assets,” said Ryan Lanyon, who manages the city’s street furniture program.
