For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2013, SWANA membership grew to 8,200 individual members, its highest ever.
The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) says more than 1,500 members joined SWANA during FY2013, an increase of nearly 19 per cent.
SWANA’s existing membership retention rate is 83 per cent.
Sixty per cent SWANA members are employed by the public sector, and 38 per cent are employed by the private sector, with the remainder being student and retired members.
Ninety percent of SWANA members reside in the U.S., while about 10 per cent reside in Canada.
At the end of FY 2013, SWANA had 44 Chapters, with four in Canada, one in the Caribbean and the rest in the U.S. A new Chapter in the province of Quebec will be recognized at the SWANA annual meeting in September at WASTECON in Long Beach.
