McMurrich/Monteith residents should soon have an extra spring in their step.
That spring is provided by rubber sidewalks being installed by the Township — but also by the fact that the new sidewalks are funded by a provincial grant.
“It’s just wonderful,” Louise Heintzman, McMurrich’s deputy clerk, says.
The rubber tiles — which come in at 48-inches wide, by 60-inches long, and two-inches deep — weigh about 230 lbs each. They connect like puzzle pieces and are made from recycled tires — about 20 tires go into each tile. They’ll be installed along Sprucedale’s main street — Highway 518 W.
