Sponsored by Intrinsik and AGAT Laboratories, the event runs from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm on Tuesday, May 29 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Toronto.
Joining us at this exclusive one-day seminar will be Donna S.K. Shier, Partner, Willms & Shier Environmental Lawyers LLP. Shier will be speaking about issues caused by removing groundwater when removing soil during a site remediation, the timing of follow-up testing, in-situ remediation, requirements for groundwater testing under the new Phase I and Phase II regimes, special rules for dry cleaners and gas stations, and case studies having to do with purchasing contaminated land and the associated groundwater issues and the advantages of obtaining a Record of Site Condition.
A special joint presentation by Steven Desrocher, Senior Contaminant Hydrogeologist with Golder Associates, and Yvo Veenis, a Hydrogeologist and Director of Groundwater Technology based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, will discuss the history and nature of the contamination and the results of bench-scale treatment trials on soils at the Greenwich-Mohawk site in Brantford, Ontario.
Adam Safruk, Environmental Toxicologist at Intrinsik Environmental Sciences Inc., will discuss the assessment of risks via the vapour infiltration pathway, benefits and concerns of collecting soil-vapour and indoor air samples, the use of the MOE Modified Generic Risk Assessment (MGRA) model, as well as various additional human health and ecological considerations associated with impacted groundwater.
Kerry Bolanos-Shaw, Product Manager, Site Remediation FMC Adventus Environmental Solutions Team, will explore the comparison of ISCO, ISCR and aerobic bioremediation for in situ treatment of groundwater and introduce the development of a new soluble ISCR product.
