Sims Recycling Solutions has announced the start up of its newest electronics recycling facility in Quebec.
The new 55,000 sq. ft. facility is located in Laval, Quebec, in the greater Montreal area. It joins the two sites operating in Ontario, and one in British Columbia.
“If Quebec's volumes reflect those of other provinces driven by similar regulations, we can expect at least 25,000 metric tonnes of WEEE to be recycled in Quebec over the next year," says Cindy Coutts, president of Sims Recycling Solutions in a January 8, 2013 statement to media. "Sims Recycling Solutions is committed to developing the most advanced recycling technology and in providing more green jobs in Canada and the world."
The new facility has been established to uniquely serve the Quebec market given the establishment of the Quebec WEEE stewardship regulations, Direction des matières résiduelles et des lieux contaminés - Service des matière résiduelles/ Regulation Respecting the Recovery and Reclamation of Products by Enterprises, which took effect July 14, 2012.
