An SGS Environmental Services laboratory in Lakefield, Ontario, has successfully completed the requirements of the Programme d'accréditation des laboratoires d'analyse (PALA) (Accreditation Program for Analysis Laboratories) for soil, process and waste water testing.

This accrediation includes Acid Rock Drainage (ARD) testing procedures. The PALA is administered by the Centre d'expertise en analyse environnementale du Québec (CEAEQ) and includes the requirements for ISO/IEC 17025:2005.

A total of 18 domains (groups) were evaluated, including those in relation to Directive 019 sur l’industrie minière (Mining Directive 019), Règlement sur l’enfouissement des sols contaminés (Landfilling of Contaminated Soil), Programme de Réduction des Rejets Industriels (PRRI)- Secteur minier, (Industrial Releases Reduction Program- Minerals sector) and Règlement sur les matières dangereuses (RMD).

This achievement allows SGS to expand its environmental analysis expertise to clients with operations in Quebec and arises from SGS’ dedication to provide quality test results throughout Canada. SGS Environmental Services also provides comprehensive testing of drinking water, wastewater, soil characterization and testing, metal speciation, trace metal analysis, bio-accessibility analysis, respirable dust and silica testing.

The Lakefield facility functions as a central hub in SGS’s global network of facilities offering a comprehensive suite of integrated services. Many of SGS’s laboratories comply with the ISO/IEC 17025 standard for specific registered tests.
