Recycling has returned to the Goulais River area after a year hiatus due to a lack of funding
Holly Hughes, Sault North Waste Management Council chair, said residents of townships within the Local Services Board of Goulais and district voted to take on recycling and pay for it through their taxes to the tune of $36 annually.
Greg Long, contractor and owner/operator of GT Waste, began collecting cardboard in Goulais East, Goulais West and Havilland/Highway 17 on the week of May 9. The following week, 1 and 2 plastics and aluminum cans were collected.
This schedule will alternate weekly.
