The following statement is from Compost Council of Canada Executive Director Susan Antler regarding the recent passing of notable organics recycling leader Bill Slater.

I am very sorry to share the news with you about the passing of Bill Slater, General Manager of Westmorland-Albert Solid Waste Commission.

Bill has been a devoted leader in organics recycling and composting, contributing his immense energy, talents and passion to the management of a region-wide curbside collection and composting program, well-recognized across our country and beyond.

Bill was able to both focus on the needs of his own work while also very generously sharing his abilities and support with our Council, our members and folks interested in developing a compost program within their own community.

Bill leaves a tremendous legacy of the power of an "it can be done" attitude. Our Council has much to be thankful for his care and support.
