ReCommunity announced that it has selected Eugene, Oregon-based Bulk Handling Systems (BHS) to design, manufacture and install a new materials recovery system for its ReCommunity Delaware facility.
The materials recovery facility (MRF) is expected to be fully operational by July 2013, with system installation scheduled to begin in February 2013.
“ReCommunity won out over all other proposals because of its recycling expertise and ability to bring the most productive recovery technology to Delaware,” says Pat Canzano, CEO of Delaware Solid Waste Authority, in a written announcement.
ReCommunity, headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., says the announcement is a significant step in bringing leading-edge recovery technology to Delaware. Once complete, the new system will process 35 tonnes of recyclables per hour. This includes old newspapers, mixed paper, cardboard, plastic containers, beverage cartons, steel, aluminum and glass to support the State of Delaware’s recent passage of their Universal Recycling law.

The state-of-the-art system includes advanced automated sorting capabilities that allow identification, separation and recovery of recyclables. Specifically, BHS will design, manufacture and install its patented screening, optical, air and controls technology to recover more than 95 percent of available recyclables.
