LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (News release) – The Regional Recycling and Waste Reduction District today announced it is implementing a plan to curb the rising levels of contamination in the residential single-stream recycling programs in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Sherwood and other areas of Pulaski County. Contamination includes material that cannot be recycled and must be sent to the landfill.
Beginning June 6, 2016, recycling carts will be audited for contamination. If contamination is visible, a tag will be placed on the cart describing the problem in order to inform the recycler. If a customer is tagged three times, further steps, such as citations or removal of the cart from the address, may be taken to reduce contamination in the recycling stream.
