Ontario Minister of the Environment has made three appointments to the Waste Diversion Ontario (WDO) board.

Dr. Virginia Maclaren and Brian Rosborough have both been re-appointed to the WDO Board, while the ministry adds David Brezer (MBA, P.Eng), currently the Director of the Consumer Policy and Liaison Branch for the Ministry of Consumer Services.

“In this role, [Brezer] is responsible for policy in the areas of corporate law and consumer protection, and for oversight and liaison with the ministry's consumer protection Administrative Authorities,” says a January 30, 2013 statement on WDO

Brezer has served on a variety of boards, including the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes and the Governing Council of Professional Engineers Ontario. He replaces Greg Sones, Director of the Ministry of the Environment’s Waste Management Policy Branch.

Dr. Maclaren is currently Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Geography and Program in Planning at the University of Toronto. She has served on the WDO Board since January 2009.

Rosborough is currently Director of Government Relations at Wilfrid Laurier University. He has served on the WDO Board since February 2010.

Can anyone explain to me what these three can add to a waste diversion program. Can we ever put someone that actually recycles waste on one of these boards. Someone for example that is not one of 'the good old boys'. Lets try an actual person that markets and co-ordinates both ICI waste and also municipal waste on a daily basis on their own dime. Bring on the next government -please- before the system is irreparable.
