Multi Material British Columbia (MMBC) has awarded the Phase 1 consulting contract to undertake the discovery and options development phase for a printed paper and packaging (PPP) Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Program for British Columbia (B.C.).

The contract has been awarded to a consortium of consultants that includes Glenda Gies and Associates, Kelleher Environmental, Maura Walker and Associates, and Corporate Policy Group LLP.

The team that will develop the policy is comprised of leader Glenda Gies, B.C. data specialist Maura Walker, and extended producer responsibility and recycling experts Maria Kelleher (Kelleher Environmental), Geoff Love (Love Environmental), Usman Valiante (Corporate Policy Group), and data analyst Liz Parry.

MMBC is a not-for-profit agency that was formed in anticipation of the B.C. government adding PPP as a new product category under its Recycling Regulation.

MMBC represents the producers (brand owners and first sellers) of PPP in B.C. and is governed by a board comprised of the Retail Council of Canada, Food and Consumer Products of Canada, Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers, Canadian Restaurant and Food Services Association, and the Canadian Newspaper Association.
