A Toronto numbered company has been ordered to pay a $45,000 fine for failing to comply with a Court Order to remove waste materials from a mill site, the Ontario Ministry of the Environment says.

2023682 Ontario Inc. operates a mill site in Coleman Township. The company was convicted for failing to comply with a ministry order to take specific action to address concerns at the facility. As part of the sentencing, a Court Order was issued requiring the company to remove all metal hydroxide sludge and waste catalyst from the site and to maintain the material in a secure manner.

The order has not been complied with, the ministry says.

"Charges and convictions remind us all that we need to take care not to damage the environment as we go about our business", Environment Minister Jim Bradley.

The company was fined a total of $45,000 plus victim fine surcharges of $11, 250 and was given one year to pay the fine.
