HOUSTON – The city plans to expand its glass recycling program within the next two weeks.
Last March, the city signed a two-year curbside recycling contract with Waste Management, but the contract didn’t include glass because of the drop in market value.
So the city teamed up with Strategic Materials to set up boxes dedicated to glass recycling around town.
Some areas are busier than ever.
In the Washington Avenue corridor, boxes turn every 2-3 days.
