Coast Waste Management Association (CWMA) is hosting a workshop and networking event on February 28, 2014 at the Delta Ocean Pointe Resort in Victoria, British Columbia.

Multi Material BC update

BC’s packaging and printed paper stewardship plan was approved by the province on April 19, 2013. The team at Multi Material BC has been busy developing this program for launch on May 19, 2014.

With Master Services Agreements and Statements of Work in place and RFPs for Curbside Collection of PPP and Post-Collection Services closed, MMBC are working on the final push as they ready for the launch.

Allen Langdon will update attendees on what to expect as the implementation date for the Packaging and Printed Paper stewardship plan fast approaches.

Stewardship Agencies of BC

There are currently 16 stewardship organizations operating in British Columbia, with more slated to start operation every year. The increase in product stewardship agencies is primarily due to the BC Government's commitment to the CCME Canada Wide Action Plan.

With the recent expansion of extended producer responsibility (EPR) programs in B.C., growing pains are being experienced by all stakeholders, particularly stewardship agencies, local governments and the Ministry. The Stewardship Agencies of BC (SABC) have been working on an Action Plan to help address the EPR program challenges in a manner consistent with the key program principles.

Craig Wisehart will provide an update on the Action Plan and how it relates to industry stakeholders.
