Algonquin Power Energy From Waste Inc. and U-PAK Group announced on November 13, 2012 they will jointly market and co-ordinate supply waste to Algonquin Power’s facility.

Algonquin Power Energy From Waste Inc. owns and operates the only large-scale energy-from-waste facility in Southern Ontario. Located in Brampton, the facility converts 500 tonnes per day of solid, non-hazardous waste from throughout Ontario into steam, which is sold to a neighbouring recycled paper mill, and electricity sold on the grid.

U-PAK is a leader in recycling and waste management solutions, providing a suite of services including 3R compliance, material recovery, waste pick-up, haulage, and transfer. The agreement with Algonquin Power means that U-PAK will be able to market a zero landfill option to forward-thinking municipalities and businesses focused on sustainable waste management solutions.

U-PAK and Algonquin Power say they will be working together to identify and capitalize on waste management opportunities in Ontario.
